ZG Occupations - Riders in the Workplace
« on: April 18, 2017, 07:57:10 AM »
  • It's been a while since we've check-in and talked about what the hell everyone does for work.  We have people in a lot of different backgrounds, so these are always fun. I myself have changed jobs since the last thread, whenever that was...

I used to be an Applications Engineer for a company that built automation equipment, but am currently an Applications Engineer working at a converting company.  We deal with various application involving sound & vibration, adhesives (anything 3M related), gaskets/seals, and electromagnetic shielding (EMI/RFI) products.  I pull in orders from customers looking for solutions, and set them on the right track with certain materials best-suited for their use.  We do a lot with die presses, CNC digital knife cutters, lasers, laminators, and schtuff.  If anyone needs a bunch of gaskets, I'm your guy!  I'll get you set up with prototypes faster than anyone :)

Hell, maybe someone will get a referral to a better company through this.  We could use a Quality Engineer/Manager
But I don't want greeting cards. I want to get fucked up on trampolines
Pretty much everything that DVS_DAN said is correct.

  • I worked in a miserable cubicle for an insurance carrier for 8 years writing contracts to be sold by someone else who would get a commission on them. I was laid off in Dec 2015, but was already in the works to return to school for my master's degree in education. I'm going to be an art teacher. Something I always knew I wanted but never really had the support to encourage me to achieve it. People always had reasons to talk me out of it. I'm just about done with my student teaching and will be licensed in a few months. I'm looking for a teaching job now for the upcoming school year, and I'll also be spending the summer writing my thesis to graduate a year early. Just a few more months and I hope to have a life of some sort back again.
Before you even ask...no, I've never put diesel in my bike.

There is a job opening in district 659 down here. Elementary art teacher. Nice small town and good area. Close to the good motorcycle roads.

Thank You, but unfortunately that's too far from home for me.  I have a house in Coon Rapids I am not ready to leave yet.  At the very least, I already am a sub for the upcoming year, but I do have an interview at a local charter school tomorrow afternoon.
