2017/2018 Winter Rides
« on: November 09, 2017, 10:30:03 AM »
  • What's everyone riding this year, and where do you ride?  Post up rides as the white stuff starts to fall

I still have my two sleds, which I'm selling off this year.  I'm sure it'll snow like crazy just because of that reason.  If anyone wants a 1996 Polaris XCR600 or 2002 Arctic Cat ZR600 EFI, lemme know!
But I don't want greeting cards. I want to get fucked up on trampolines
Pretty much everything that DVS_DAN said is correct.

A trip up to the Iron Range in mid feb is also planned.

If we get good snow this year I will make several trips from my house to.....wherever the hell I feel like.
Trails are just down the road from me.  :headbang:
    I got nuthin'

  • Carbide, where in the UP do you ride?  I'm heading up there several times this year and looking for some really good rides.  Have ridden east out of Berglund several times.  Pretty good riding until you get to about Mill City.  Just interested in finding something different.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Twin Lakes is a great place to base out of and ride north from there!

  • Thanks, I'll give it a try.  Hopefully we have a good year this year.  Last year was a little rough.

  • Yes Berglund is a great home base.
But if you would like to go more North. Try Hancock or Houghton.

  • Wanting to give Houghton a try.  Thinking of doing a three day run up there.  I'll have to give it a try this year.  Thanks for the input.

Heading to the Keeweenaw peninsula in a few weeks. Then another trip near Munising.
Keeweenaw can get 200-250 inches of snow. I've ridden every trail throughout that whole area. Great trails. The best groomers around the midwest.
There are plenty of awesome trails out of Ironwood just over the border from Wisconsin, into the UP.

  • Carbide, have you gotten out much?  How have the trails been?  Looking at taking a run up through the UP but have gotten real mixed reviews on snow/trail conditions.  Just wondering what you have found.

Just the one trip to the Keeweenaw peninsula.  It was perfect north of the canal.
Going again in a few weeks.

That thing isn't old enough to not be running?!  Is that the sled that needed a rebuild forever?

Just got back from the UP. Trails were great last week up around Houghton, Copper Harbour, Baraga and Marquette.  However, the trails around Bergland we're almost bare by late Saturday afternoon.  They really need some snow and cold temps.

  •  Had great trips the last few weekends. Put about 550 miles in 3 days of riding near Munising in the UP.
Then last weekend we put on over 600 miles based out of Babbit. Good trails. Enough snow. Low traffic. It was a bit chilly, but hey I'm not complaining.
Put nealy 2,000 miles on already. Might head to the UP for a third time soon.
