  • So $1000 for a sled that needs a new track, a new jackshaft, new jackshaft bearings, new bogie wheels, and is only worth $1300 on a good day?
Such Deal, Much 2-stroke, Wow...  ::)

And Yes, Indy 650s and Storms are fast, but they're also HEAVY. They're not good for rough trail use or even light jumping.  A lighter, nimbler, two cylinder sled like the exciter is much more desirable.

Secondly, if you don't like someone's price, don't be a jackass.  Take it to PM, make an offer, or shut the fuck up. Posting negative remarks about someone's item for sale is immature and uncalled for.  It's MotoJ's sled, he can sell it for whatever he damn well pleases.
In God we trust, everyone else keep your hands where I can see them.

I hate Craigslist.  My XLT isn't selling near $1500.  It seems these piles need to be cheap or they don't move.  Keep yours out there and renew every Friday, when people can come out and take it on a whim.  That's all I can offer for advice for this stuff.  It's frustrating

But I don't want greeting cards. I want to get fucked up on trampolines
Pretty much everything that DVS_DAN said is correct.

  • I'd like to sell my sled while Winter is in full effect now.  I'm sick of dealing with CL crazies and trying to work around my schedule to set up random times and nights for them to not show.  I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a good sled.

EWAustin helped me pick it up, cleaned the carbs, and lubed the clutches.  I rode it around trails with Bear and had a great time with no issues.  Monoblocks typically aren't the best engines, until they fixed the issues with upgrades that are on this sled.  These are good, reliable sleds that will last a long time.  The only issue I've found is a front shock feels soft and could be replaced if needed.  You can grab a set of shocks for about $65 off Craigslist.

    http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/sno/4300784957.html
    It's a 1998 Polaris Indy XLT600 Special
    - Only ~3700 miles (still riding it around once in a while)
    - XTRA-10 suspension
    - Hand warmers/thumb warmer
    - Seat has no rips or tears
    - Cleaned and sync'd carbs last year
    - Cleaned and lubed clutches last year
    - Suspension greased last year
    - Couple cracks in the hood and shield
    - Good Hyfax
    - New Polaris belt
    - Brand new carbides
    - Brand new spark plugs
    - Great compression in all three cylinders: 130+ psi
    - Registered through 2015

XLT SP engine upgrades in '98:
    - Extra oiler on the PTO bearing
    - Stronger crank
    - Bigger bearings
    - Better porting

It starts easy in just a few pulls, no matter how cold. Always garage kept.

I'll get rid of it for $1100

  • For anyone considering a sled, this is a great price for a solid sled.
And if you know Dan you know he's the honest, no-bullshit type.

It's also worth noting that while this body isn't regarded as the prettiest of Polaris sleds, it does have arguably the best headlights to date which is very helpful when riding at night.

Yup, Eric went through the whole sled, I think early last year?  I just tossed in all new spark plugs, plus three extra in there for backup, brand new carbides on the plastic skis,  got a new Polaris belt on... I dunno what else.  It starts easily.  On a butt ass cold weekend, I trailered it to a buddy's place, didn't end up using it, trailered home and got it started 10 times easier than my XCR.  Starting it at the beginning of the season was a blessing compared to my damn XCR!

The Craigslist guys that I talk to about the sled know what they're talking about and seem to be the only ones who know how good this model is.  I think others are distracted by the boring hood, but new stickers are only $100 for a nice looking full kit
